Beauty Hacks

Use Mascara as Eye Liner
Rub an eye liner brush over the mascara brush and then line your eyes.

Keep Lipstick Off Teeth
Nobody likes to smile and find out they have red all along their pearly whites. A great way to avoid this is to simply wipe your lips from the inside out. After you finish applying your lipstick, just stick your finger in your mouth and pull it out.

Apply Concealer in a Triangle Shape
Instead of dotting on concealer in the pattern of your eyes, apply it in a triangle shape. Just dot it on under your eyes and blend downward in the triangle shape.

Set Lipstick to Last
Lipstick tends to run off, smudge and not look as great towards the end of the day. You can fix this problem with a tissue and a bit of translucent powder. After you applied your color, just hold a tissue over your lips tightly and dust a bit of translucent powder over the tissue. This helps set the lipstick making it last longer.

Learn How to Contour Properly
Getting your makeup to look right depends on how you apply it. Learn how to contour and you can make your makeup look perfect every time. Following certain lines on your face is crucial when applying contouring or concealer and when you use a darker color along the lines of your cheekbones. Practice, practice ladies!

Easy Method for Getting Rid of Split Ends
To get rid of split ends you don't necessarily have to visit your stylist. You can just twist your hair and snip along the outside, removing the split ends as you go. Just twist several strands together and then snip away the hairs that you see sticking out.

Get Great Nail Art- With a Band-Aid
After you paint your nails the color that you want and ensure that they are dry, just place the sticky part of the band-aid over your nails and color in with any other color you want. You will get a great polka dot look!

Learn How to Create a Winged Look with Eye Makeup
When you want that bold winged look, it is important that you draw the lines in first and then color them in. Draw the wing at the outside corner of you eye then use the same eye liner to fill it in. Helps your wings stay in place much longer.

Check Makeup in the Car
The lighting in different places will make your makeup look different. When you finish applying it each morning, be sure to check it against the natural lighting inside your car. This will show you areas that may need to be blended better.

Use Visine To Tone Down Pimples
We all have that day were a zit just pops up out of nowhere. Visine helps to bring the redness to a bare minimum. Soak a cotton ball in it and then hold it on your zit for a few minutes. After a few hours you can cover the zit with concealer.

Learn Where to Apply Perfume for All-Day Stay
Apply inside of both wrists, behind your ears, inside your elbow, at the base of your throat and behind your knees.

Elf Lip Exfoliator

My lips are always chapped if I don't use some kind of chapstick or lip gloss I start biting the dead skin on my lips which causes my lips to bleed. It's not cute at all.

I love this lip exfoliator! It only cost $3 at Target, Walmart, Ulta. It's in the shape of a lipstick which makes it easy to apply, easy to store and no mess.

About 2-3 minutes later....

Your lips feel so smooth and the best time to exfoliate before you use a dark lipstick.

Blush it up

I love blushes!!! It gives your face that perfect bright awaken look. Start off with a small amount on the apple of your cheeks and build it till you get the color you are looking for. Be careful with applying too much you don't want to look like a clown. I thought I'd share some of my favorites.

Here are some close ups. It's hard to get the color to show on camera. If you get a chance to swatch some at the store do it you'll totally agree with why these are my favorites.

Milani luminoso: I know it's hard to see it on my arm.
Such a beautiful coral color. They said its a dupe for NARS orgasm and it's 100% true! Let me know some of your favorites.

Stop it before it starts...

Hello love bugs! I know with all this crazy weather in Houston everyone is getting sick!  I thought I’d share some things you can do to stop a cold in its tracks. Flu season peaks in February in the U.S., so now is the time to really focus your energy on staying healthy. Below are some tips…

Prop yourself up with pillows. Keeping your head elevated at night helps your nasal passages stay open. So if you’re feeling a bit congested, grab a couple extra pillows and sleep so that you’re almost sitting up straight. You’ll wake up feeling refreshed and able to breathe better.

Get a good night’s sleep. It might seem obvious that getting enough sleep is important for staying healthy. But just how important is it? Studies show that people who get less than seven hours of sleep on average are three times more likely to get a cold than those who snooze for eight hours or more. So, if you feel a cold or flu coming on, make sure you’re getting plenty of shut-eye.

Take a hot shower. Whether you’re coughing or sneezing, the steam from a hot shower or humidifier will loosen up the congestion in your head and chest. Studies also show that very humid air can be toxic to viruses.

Drink up. As you probably know by now, staying hydrated is a key to feeling better. If you’re already feeling sick, drinking lots of liquids will thin congestion and keep your throat moist. If you’re tired of plain old water, try hot tea, clear chicken or vegetable broth, or infused water for some added flavor.

Take a ‘mega dose’ of Vitamin C. Vitamin C is proven to shorten the duration of a cold or flu once it’s started. So if you feel a sickness coming on, pop an Emergen-C, airborne, or other mega-dose of Vitamin C.

Eat immunity boosting foods. Eating yogurt, garlic, chicken soup, tea, strawberries, Brussels sprouts, oatmeal, carrots, dark chocolate on a regular basis will help prevent illness before it even starts.

Gargle with salt water. If you have a sore throat, salt water will help ease the pain naturally. Not only does the salt help reduce inflammation in your throat, but the rinse also flushes out bacteria and viruses. Try adding a half a tablespoon of salt to 8 ounces of warm water.

Braids, braids & more braids!

Hola! With spring and summer right around the corner I thought I'd share some fun and easy braided looks. I feel like a braid is easy, fast and super cute!

The classic braid: for those days you just don't have time to do your hair but still want to look put together.

The french braid: I adore a pretty french braid! It's such a classic hairstyle that can work on many different hair lengths, including locks with layers.

The fishtail braid: I've tried so hard to do this braid and it just doesn't come out right but I haven't given up I will master it!

The headband braid: I love this look! It can turn an everyday simple hairstyle into a more elegant look.

The braided pigtails: you can wear this look to the beach, pool, amusement park etc.
